In Year 2 we have been looking at The Rainbow Fish and the messages in the story.
Here are some photos of us making Rainbow Fish.
In Year 2 the children were set several challenges! We had:
1) YEAR 2 HOME LEARNING CHALLENGE
In class we are taking part in the RSPB’s Big School’s Birdwatch. Over the next two weeks please could your child create a piece of art that is about birds. There are some lovely ideas on the RSPB website (www.rspb.org.uk/youth). Other ideas include collaging a picture of a bird, making a mosaic picture of bird, creating a bird’s nest or indeed your child could come up with their own idea. If you’ve any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
2)The Bird Watch Shelter Challenge
You have to make a bird watch shelter. It has to have enough room to fit the whole group in, have a good structure, well fastened and covered to protect against weather and to hide us from the birds.
3)The Bird Watch Information Book Challenge
You have to plan, research, plan and create an information book about a bird that includes all the features of an information book and meets the success criteria.
4) The Bird Watch Maths Bird Food Challenge
Can you make a spherical shaped bird food that fits inside a yoghurt pot?
5) The Bird Watch Data Handling Challenge.
You need to find two ways to record the information from the Bird Watch.
The children worked very hard and below is a short video showing our work!
A local vegetable farmer from Tarleton, who supplies our school, came into school and told us lots of information about the vegetables that are grown in our area. He showed us some new vegetables like Romanesco Cauliflowers, Candy-cane-striped beetroots and golden beetroots.
